Hi Rachel!
I’ve never stayed on North Shore before so I unfortunately don’t have any recommendations, sorry! Yes, I’ve traveled to the other islands from Oahu and it’s very easy. My sister (who lives there) frequently does day trips to the other islands for her job. Flights are super short, and the only I’d suggest is having a rental car lined up for when you land. We’ve used Turo (if you’re not familiar, it’s like Airbnb for cars) and I’ve usually found it to be cheaper than renting from big companies.

This is a really great post. I’m going in early July and it will be our first time to the island. I am looking for the non-touristy areas (loved your suggestions). Do you have any hotels/Airbnb’s on the northside you suggest? Also have you ever traveled over to any of the other islands from Oahu? Is it easy and do you have any suggestions?
