Commonly referred to as the “Pearl of the North,” Gdansk is a popular European weekend destination filled with rich history and some of the most photogenic streets I’ve ever walked along.
On Nick’s last European tour we snuck away to Poland for a few days to check out Gdansk, a pretty little city located along the Baltic Sea in the Pomerania region of the country.
Another day, another afternoon spent climbing church towers in search of the best views. This time we’re in Gdansk at St. Mary’s Church aka the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
If there’s one type of food you have to try in Poland, it’s gotta be pierogi. Considered one of the country’s national dishes, these stuffed dumplings are a classic comfort food that have been gracing Polish dinner plates since the 13th century.
